Taking its name from Maya Angelou’s poem reflecting on hope and perseverance in the face of racial and class-based discrimination, this exhibition at MoMA PS1 utilizes photography, archival research, memorabilia, and oral histories to center the lives of the Collective members, who all grew up in the neighborhoods around PS1.

Try an Outdoor Fitness Class with Clann Health
September 7th and 14th, 7pm–7:45pm

Gotham Point features a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor fitness club, but while the weather’s still great, why not try a fitness class in the community? Clann Health are famous for their outdoor workouts, and what better place to break a sweat than in your own backyard at Hunter’s Point South Park! This free 45-minute workout is for all fitness levels, and is a great way to feel better, enjoy the outdoors, and meet new people.

See SHAME, an Indoor Theatrical Dance Performance at Culture Lab LIC
September 8th–11th, 7pm–8:30pm

Taking on the taboo of self-perception through a series of vignettes utilizing projection and dance, SHAME is a revolution to redefine beauty while exploring the effects media has on our humanity. Brought to you by Lady Nimue Productions. SHAME is in development as an educational program with the goal of teaching future generations to have better love for themselves and others.

Be Charmed by an Outdoor Screening of Encanto
September 9th, sunset

One of many perks of living in Long Island City, CinemaLIC is a free outdoor movie event where viewers can enjoy films right on the waterfront in Hunters Point South Park, with New York City’s skyline as the backdrop. Encanto is one of Disney’s latest visual delights, about a Colombian teenage girl frustrated by her lack of magical powers, and watching it outdoors will surely be special.

Taste Indias Colors at Rang
Wednesdays thru Mondays, 12pm–3pm, 5pm–10pm

The newest restaurant in Long Island City just opened on Indian Independence Day (August 15th) and offers a modern twist on Indian fare. Rang is the fourth restaurant owned by chef Abishek Sharma, who was born in India and raised right here in Flushing. Serving up small bites, breads, and kebabs, this cozy eatery is designed for food-lovers who love to sample and share, and the cocktails are spice forward and Indian inspired.

Paint Watercolors on the Waterfront
September 28th, 6:30pm–7:30pm

Gotham Point Residents who attend our Rooftop Sunset Painting Workshop on the 19th can enjoy putting their skills to the test at this free Watercolors on the Waterfront class, hosted by Hunter’s Point Parks Conservancy in partnership with art instructor Donna Levinstone. Donna is a native New Yorker with a unique photo-impressionistic style who has participated in solo and group exhibitions around the country since 1983, and whose work is showcased in numerous corporate collections.

This month, we’re hosting an engaging variety of events, available exclusively to residents of our Long Island City luxury rentals. On September 7th, residents can stop by for an information session and chef demo from Lancaster Farms. Relax and unwind with a Rooftop Sunset Painting Workshop on the 19th and then get excited to Meet Your Concierge & LIV Fitness for a Champagne Toast on the 22nd. We’ll close out the month on the 29th with an info session from Suits and Skirts, our in-building offering for professional dry cleaning, laundry, and apartment cleaning services.
