Break a sweat on the TD Five Boro Bike Tour
May 1st

NYC’s most iconic cycling event rolls around on Sunday, May 1st. The tour, which travels through all five boroughs, begins in Lower Manhattan and ends in Staten Island, crossing five major bridges – all closed to traffic! – along the way. And yes, the route takes to the streets of Long Island City: cyclists traverse the Queensboro Bridge into LIC before wending their way down to cross the Pulaski Bridge into Brooklyn. If you’ve been lucky enough to snag a spot this year, this is a phenomenal way to experience not just your LIC neighborhood, but the entire city.

Dig in to Michelin-starred Mexican at Casa Enrique for Cinco de Mayo
May 5th

What better way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than with chef Cosme Aguilar’s soulful cuisine? Casa Enrique has earned a devoted following – and a Michelin star – thanks to Aguilar’s mouth watering tacos, slow-simmered mole and mezcal-forward cocktail menu. Infused with Mexican flavors from Chiapas to Puebla to San Luis Potosí, the menu brings the country’s rich culinary traditions to vibrant life.

Enjoy free admission for AAPI Community Day at the Noguchi Museum
May 7th

On Saturday, May 7th, visit the Noguchi Museum for a day of free admission and programming with Taiwanese-American artist Chemin Hsiao. Standing in solidarity with the AAPI community against escalating and continued violence, the museum presents Hsiao’s latest work, a series of banners entitled Dandelions Know (2021), which carry messages of anti-racism and hope.  Events will include a watercolor workshop, open studio, and interactive tours of the exhibition as well as the museum’s permanent collection.

Savor a Mother’s Day brunch at American Brass on the Water
Sunday, May 8th

Celebrate the mom in your life on Sunday, May 8th with a relaxed riverfront brunch at American Brass on the Water. Situated right on the East River waterfront, the restaurant is only moments away from the Gotham Point luxury rentals at Hunter’s Point South, and offers plenty of outdoor seating against a backdrop of breathtaking city views. Chef Kevin McGinley’s elevated take on locally-sourced seasonal classics is also sure to delight.

Cut loose at CultureLab LIC’s outdoor concert series
Every Friday – Sunday in May

Every Friday through Sunday in May, the visual and performing arts nonprofit CultureLab LIC will be hosting free outdoor concerts in the Plaxall Gallery parking lot. Grab some beers and get your groove on to an eclectic roster of live music, from genre-bending jazz to folk.  Festivities kick off at 7pm on Fridays, and at 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Encounter Newly Commissioned Artwork at SculptureCenter
May 12th – August 1st

One of our favorite reasons to live at Gotham Point’s luxury rentals in Long Island City is their proximity to the neighborhood’s booming art scene. This month, art lovers can explore newly commissioned sculptures, installations and video works by eleven contemporary artists at SculptureCenter’s signature open call and exhibition program. The thought-provoking show, titled In Practice: Literally Means Collapse, considers notions of ruin and collapse through material and metaphor.
